  • 1. Finding the Markup Percent on Jeans

    Find the markup percent for the pair of jeans. (See Example 1 and Example 2.)

    • Worked-Out Solution

      There are two ways to approach this exercise.

      1. Divide the retail price by the wholesale price and then subtract 1.

        Subtracting 1 from the result produces 1.22, or a markup percent of about 122%.

      2. Find the markup in dollars and then divide by the wholesale price.

        So, the markup percent is about 122%.
